When the days are short
And the nights are long
A little pine tree stands straight and strong
And says, “I wish that I could be
A beautifully, decorated Christmas Tree.” That’s when . . . .
Ten porcupines bring hanging vines,
sprinkled with drops of dew that shine
Nine brown bears bring golden pears
And little berry baskets for the tree to wear
Eight reindeer make eight bells appear,
they jingle and they jangle so loud and clear
Seven squirrels, who jump and twirl,
leave acorns filled with Christmas cheer
Six foxes wrap boxes
Five raccoons hang silver spoons
Four chipmunks run up the trunk
And light that tree with the light of the moon
Three striped skunks walk through the snow,
and each one ties a bright red bow
Two toads hang popcorn strings (pop pop)
One snowy owl puts a feather on top . . .
And when it was all decorated
The pine tree was so proud
And all the animals in the wood
Slowly gathered ’round … singing
“This little tree, this little tree
Brought us all together
Made our Christmas better
This little tree, this little tree
Made a merry Christmas, for me”
Now every year in the wintertime
All of the animals get in line
And bring a gift so the tree can be
A beautifully, decorated Christmas Tree
Ten porcupines bring hanging vines,
sprinkled with drops of dew that shine
Nine brown bears bring golden pears –
and little berry baskets for the tree to wear
Eight reindeer make eight bells appear,
they jingle and they jangle so loud and clear
Seven squirrels, who jump and twirl,
leave acorns filled with Christmas cheer
Six foxes wrap boxes
Five raccoons hang silver spoons
Four chipmunks run up the trunk
And light that tree with the light of the moon
Three striped skunks walk through the snow,
and each one ties a bright red bow
Two toads hang popcorn strings (pop pop)
One snowy owl puts a feather on top . . .
This little tree, this little tree
Brought us all together
Made our Christmas better
This little tree, this little tree
Made a merry Christmas, for me!
