Laurie Berkner Has a Sweet Treat for the Holidays!

Announcing Candy Cane Jane E-Book
By Bestselling Children’s Recording Artist Laurie Berkner
To Be Released On NOOK October 30th

“The queen of kids’ music.” – People Magazine

Best-selling, award-winning children’s recording artist Laurie Berkner’s festive song Candy Cane Jane comes to life in her new e-book available exclusively on Barnes & Noble’s NOOK Color™, NOOK Tablet™, NOOK® HD, NOOK® HD+ and NOOK Kids™ for iPad® app on October 30th ($3.99).

Narrated by Laurie herself, the book is based on the track Candy Cane Jane from the forthcoming album A Laurie Berkner Christmas (Two Tomatoes Records/Razor & Tie), also due out October 30th.  This will be Laurie’s second e-book, following 2011’s Party Day.  Party Day was Barnes & Noble’s first-ever original interactive NOOK Kids™ e-book.

Laurie’s simple lyrics and infectious melody, together with vividly-hued illustrations by Cassandra Gibbons (original character designs by Nancy Lee) capture the delightful spirit of the holiday season. Candy Cane Jane and her pal Gumdrop Joe go for a very special ride in the snow on a horse with a mane made of candy canes. Kids can join all of Jane and Joe’s friends on Candy Cane Lane on this fun wintertime adventure.  The full song is included.

The Laurie Berkner Band has received tremendous critical acclaim.  Says USA Today, “Since her 1999 breakthrough album, Victor Vito, Berkner has reigned as the undisputed queen of kindie rock.”  Time Magazine lauded Laurie as “a kind of sippy-cup Sheryl Crow…Berkner inhabits a kid’s curious perspective in her lyrics and pens folk-pop melodies that bear repeated – very repeated – listenings.”  The Wall Street Journal called Laurie “one of the most popular children’s performers in America … Her music is distinctive because it speaks to kids without talking down to them, charming youngsters without boring grown-ups.”

A former preschool music teacher by day and indie rocker by night, Laurie Berkner started selling her music over ten years ago out of her living room on her own label, Two Tomatoes Records.  Laurie was the first artist to ever appear in music videos on Nick Jr., Nickelodeon’s 24-hour educational, commercial-free preschool network, and is featured in nearly all episodes of the channel’s Jack’s Big Music Show.
