Ghosts that play peek-a-boo, pumpkins, owls, and mischievous witches all make appearances on this soundtrack that’s sure to add a little extra magic to Halloween.
Says Laurie: A Laurie Berkner Halloween is an album of songs I’ve written over the years and brand-new releases, that celebrate the fun of Halloween and the fall season for young children. I’ve included gross motor movement songs, fingerplays, call and response songs, counting songs, animal songs, songs to let kids’ imaginations run free, and more. There is a mix of musical styles and production from a cappella (like Moon Moon Moon and The Itsy Bitsy Spider) to the full band plus horns (like Choc-o-lot In My Pock-o-lot). The album itself is designed to take the listener on a trip – starting on the “Halloween Train” then deciding “What Am I Gonna Be (For Halloween)?” followed by picking out a pumpkin (“I Picked One Pumpkin”) and playing peek-a-boo with a friendly ghost (Peek-A-Boo Ghost). We dance to the “Monster Boogie,” and play a game with two witch friends (“Which Witch”), go trick or treating (“Trick Or Treat”), and take a “Hayride,” before quieting down with “The Owls” in their nest and discovering “What Falls In The Fall?” We finish by riding an elevator with different Halloween friends in “Waiting For The Elevator – Halloween” and ending up at a dance party (“Monster Boogie [Dance Remix]”) before revisiting our peek-a-boo game to say goodbye. I hope with this new album, I was able to evoke many images and feelings that will make the Halloween season even more magical and fun for the kids and families who listen to it.
